Here Comes the Bride
Episode 5 involved wedding dresses! The designers were challenged to make a custom wedding dress for the models from the show. They didn't realize that until AFTER they had picked their model for this next challenge. Boy, there were some that were NOT too pumped about the model they chose.
The winner ended up being Kara Saun (not too much of a shock, she is so talented). Her model was very easy to work with as well, so there you go.
The losing designer was Nora. She let her model make all the decisions and didn't speak up to add her own design elements and opinions to the dress. In the end, it bit her in the butt.
I have been excited to whip up a wedding dress for a doll. I had some fancy fabric already that I'd picked up at Saver's months ago. It is actually a fabric I used years ago for my daughter's baby blessing dress. I didn't really know exactly what I wanted it to look like, so I worked up a sketch.
I proceeded to pin the mock-up on the doll and it worked! Love when that happens. My main goal is to try not to purchase anything for these challenges. I have so much stuff around my house that I really don't need to take a trip to the fabric store. If needed, I'd rather buy something at the thrift store for a challenge.
Here are the photos of the dress I came up with:
Good thing my model, Gwen, doesn't really have an opinion on her dress. Working with dolls is so easy!
Next episode is a fun one as well. I'll be creating something I haven't done before. Stay tuned....
