Next Up

Next up in my Project NOT Runway challenge, is the "Vision" challenge or the white cotton jersey challenge.  The contestants were challenged to create a look using white cotton jersey as a foundation.  They were given the word "envy" to guide them.

The winner, was Kara Saun with this look.

I noticed several designers also used a mesh fabric along with the cotton jersey.  All started out white though, so she dyed hers a khaki color and gave it a military inspired look.  I thought it was pretty cool.

The eliminated designer, was Mario with this look.

The judges felt that it was too basic.

I knew I had an old white tee shirt in my donation pile, so I grabbed it out and got to work.  I thought it would be fun to do a tie dye affect, using some old RIT dye I had around the house.  I have actually never done tie dye before, so it was really fun.  I drew up a sketch of what I had in mind.  My scan of the drawing came out really faint (the actual dress I sketched with pencil), so I went over it in Photoshop with black brushes so that you could see better what I originally sketched.

I have really loved making turtle necks for dolls, probably because we are in the dead of winter.  I thought a gathered side seam would also be something different to try out.  Here are the photos of the final product!

Kanani is such a pretty model, too!

On to the next!!!!
