A New Rack

Finally finished this project I’ve been dreaming up for awhile.  As I’ve started making so many doll clothes, I’ve needed somewhere organized to put them.  I’ve already made a doll “closet” years ago for my daughter that was really darling.

I had my dad make a cute wooden clothes rack for my little baby several years ago.  We were living with them and just didn’t have any space for our baby clothes. It turned out so great!  I wanted to replicate the style, as best I could, but doll size.

First thing I made were the wood hangers.  I had my dad cut a piece of wood he had around his house into 5”x5” squares, and then cut those into two diagonally (like a sandwich). I then had him clip the right angle of each piece about an inch or so down.  After sanding each piece, I screwed cup hooks into the top and voila!

I had a few dowels in my garage left over from previous projects I’ve done, plus I bought some more at my local hardware store and Walmart.  After screwing/nailing the main structure together, I glued and clamped, glued and clamped, and glued and clamped.  I was so proud of myself!  I finished it off with some gold accent paint to tie in my hanger hooks and added some yarn for texture.  I love it!

Can’t wait to make even more outfits to display.  I do want to make a handful of pants hangers as well.
